Traffic congestion has become one of the biggest frustrations for residents, especially on the south end of the Island and around Sea Pines Circle. Long backups during peak travel times affect not only our daily lives, but also our local businesses, emergency response, and the visitor experience that supports our economy.

We cannot build our way out of every traffic problem, but we can make smarter decisions through better planning, improved traffic management, and close coordination with Beaufort County, SCDOT, Sea Pines, and neighboring communities. Finding practical ways to improve traffic flow will be one of my highest priorities.

I am also an advocate for better public transportation for workers, both on and off the island.

Flooding and drainage problems continue to affect many neighborhoods in Ward 5, especially in Point Comfort, Bay Pines, and Sea Pines.

Heavy rains should not routinely leave roads, yards, and common areas underwater. While important work has been done in recent years, there is still much more to accomplish. I will advocate for continued investment in drainage infrastructure, careful maintenance of existing systems, and long-term planning that addresses future needs before they become larger and more expensive problems.

Nothing is more important than the safety of our families. Residents want confidence that Hilton Head Island will remain the safe, family-oriented community they chose to live in.

The recent violence on our Island was deeply troubling to all of us. While it involved individuals from outside our community, it reminded us that we can never take public safety for granted.

We must be proactive—not just reactive. That means giving law enforcement the tools, technology, and community partnerships they need to prevent problems from escalating.  It also means looking honestly at where our current approach can be improved, learning from other successful communities, and making decisions based on facts rather than emotion. “The goal isn’t simply to respond quickly when something goes wrong. The goal is to prevent it from happening in the first place.”

I support a balanced approach that combines strong law enforcement, smart technology, effective code enforcement, responsible youth engagement, and cooperation between the Town, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, local businesses, and neighborhood organizations. Public safety is not the responsibility of one agency alone—it is a shared commitment.

Residents deserve to feel just as safe walking our beaches, enjoying our parks, shopping, or returning home after dinner as we always have. Preserving that confidence is essential to our quality of life, our property values, and the economic vitality that supports our community.

I believe every tax dollar should be treated with respect.  As residents, we deserve a town government that is transparent, fiscally responsible, and focused on delivering measurable results.

My years of leadership in Sea Pines have taught me that lasting progress comes from careful planning, sound financial stewardship, and bringing people together to solve problems.

As a Town Council member, I will be committed to improving our fiscal responsibility. Last year’s budget was the largest in Hilton Head history increasing much too fast while our population has hardly grown over the past few years.

I believe Hilton Head Island’s greatest assets extend far beyond its beaches, golf courses, and natural beauty. Our Island has developed into a community distinguished by its commitment to history, education, music, theater, and the arts.

Institutions such as Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, the Coastal Discovery Museum, the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, and numerous galleries, festivals, and cultural organizations enrich residents’ lives while offering visitors authentic experiences found nowhere else. Together, they preserve our heritage, celebrate our diverse history, inspire creativity, educate future generations, and strengthen the unique character that defines Hilton Head Island.

For these reasons, I strongly support that arts and culture should be viewed not as discretionary spending, but as a long-term investment in the Island’s future.
